The European Commission published a proposal for the Green Claims Directive in March 2023. In this webinar, we present the key takeaways of the directive for companies and other organizations. We concentrate especially on the claims related to carbon offsets but also highlight in general the main points and how those affect companies making green claims.
EU-level regulation is needed and welcome. In recent years, the European Commission has assessed 344 green claims, of which almost 40% were considered vague and deceptive. Nearly 60% were not considered to provide sufficient information. The Green Claims Directive aims to prevent greenwashing and to enable consumers to make choices on the basis of reliable information.
Compensate’s Chief Impact Officer Niklas Kaskeala discusses, for example, these takeaways:
- What the directive says about climate-related claims? And what does it not say?
- What are the implications to voluntary carbon offsetting?
- How should companies communicate about offsetting their emissions and using carbon offsets?
This webinar took place on the 13th of April 2023 and is now available as a recording. Download it for free to hear more about the new directive and what companies need to take into account when creating offsetting and green claims.
